What is Headspace?

Headspace is a space for Gay, Bisexual, and Queer male-identified Black, Latinx and other people of color to heal with folx that look like you & love like you

We want to make emotional/mental health more accessible for gay, bi and queer male identified youth.  We believe that community connection plays a vital role in emotional health.
 
You have the power to heal and you don’t have to do it alone. We have a community to support you every step of the way.  Services are provided by people who love and look like you.
 
You have options! Whether you prefer a virtual experience or if in-person is more your thing. We offer our services virtually and in-person.

Gay, bisexual, & queer male identified Black, Latinx and other people of color, ages 18-29.

Headspace provides a space for Gay, Bisexual, and Queer male-identified folx when they are stressed.  Conversations are facilitated by peers that look like you & love like you.

This is the chance to talk about tools that may help you reach your goals.

Talking to someone can help us heal, organize our thoughts, and find our voice. Finding a therapist that works for you is an essential aspect of your wellbeing and overall health.

We are a queer affirming program that strives to support the emotional wellbeing of young Gay, Bisexual, & Queer male identified folx.  Project staff are made up of folx that look and love like you.


We offer individual & group spaces to connect with other young Gay, Bisexual, & Queer men identified folx that are ready to support you.  Project staff will partner with you to identify the best services that meet your needs .

ABOUT

The Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at CHLA promotes healthy futures by attending to the physical, emotional, and social needs of young people ages 18 to 25. 

Our Board Certified Adolescent Medicine Specialists (from the field of pediatrics, family medicine, and internal medicine) focus on health promotion, treatment and prevention using a model of positive youth development. 

An interdisciplinary team of psychologists, social workers, health educators, and other professionals collaborate with our physicians and nurses to support the health and wellbeing of young people.
  • Do I have to participate in group to access one-on-one counseling?

    No! Services are tailored to your needs and so it is your choice on what you participate in.

  • Is there a therapist/counselor that looks like me?

    Our staff is made up of Black & Latinx GBQ male identified folx that are part of the community

  • Why would I want to see a psychiatrist?

    Sometimes we may want to think about taking medication to support our emotional health.  Meeting with a psychiatrist can be an opportunity to confront your fears, receive unbiased guidance and become an even better version of yourself.  Psychiatrists assess all of your mental and physical symptoms. They make a diagnosis and work with you to develop a management plan for your treatment and recovery.

  • How much do these services cost? Do I need insurance?

    All of our services are free.

  • Will what I share stay private?

    All information is strictly confidential between you and your provider. DL & Lowkey only!

  • How quickly will I be able to access groups or a therapist?

    Whenever you’re ready! We will begin the intake process and immediately get you on schedule!

  • What other services will I have access to?
    • HIV testing + HIV care
    • STI testing + STI treatment
    • PrEP/PEP
    • Groups & workshops
    • Food Bank + Clothing closet
    • Condoms & Lube
    • Emergency financial assistance (up to 50 dollars a month)
